PDF Catalog – How To Create a Catalog, Image Gallery Or Contact Sheet With Adobe Bridge And InDesign
Ok so, Adobe produces some very useful programs, a little buggy in some places, but still all around good. A great little feature of adobe is the bridge with InDesign.
These two applications allow a person to very easily create a catalog that can be converted into a pdf, or any type of file for download or print. so if you have these two programs they are potentially the best setup for catalog software
- Open InDesign.
- Make a New template that you want your catalog to look like. Once your catalog is done.
- Open adobe bridge.
- Inside bridge navigate to the folder with your images in it.
- Select all of the photos.
- In your menu bar click tools -> InDesign -> Create InDesign Contect Sheet.
- Add any Meta data that you want, File name is the defualt meta data that is selected.
- Check use InDesign Template.
- click pick template and navigate to the template ans choose it.
- click save as PDF.
- click Output File and choose what it will be called and where it will be saved.
- click OK in the top right corner.
Indesign will Receive the Files and convert the pages into a PDF file that you can upload onto your server to offer customers and other people a downloadable PDF catalog of all of your products.
Please note that this method works in CS2 and CS3 but I have not tested this for any other version.
So there your go a simple and quick way to create a catalog of all or your images or products. if you want, you could even use InDesign to further edit the file to create hyper links on the text and images so that in the pdf a person could be directed to that product or image on your webpage for further information or pricing.
